At the MZCP Consultation on the Harmonization of MZCP National Participating Institutions and WHO Collaborating Centres, held at Limassol in December 1991, emphasis was placed on the need for better coordination, including information exchange between the Mediterranean Zoonoses Control Centre (MZCC) in Athens, its collaborating institutions, and WHO Headquarters. The flow of data between all these resource institutions concerns the preparation and implementation of activities, e.g. training courses, as well as the filing of addresses of experts, officials at national and international level, sources of materials, and information on the potentials of national institutions and the status of their planned and current research projects. Literature access and evaluation, and data on national structures and other administrative and scientific data related to population medicine, would form a common basis for epidemiological surveillance and control of major zoonoses.
