Introduction: ANNUAL DATA BACK TO 1998 AND MONTHLY DATA BACK TO 1999 ARE SHOWN IN THIS REPORT Construction put in place during May 2003 was estimated at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of $869.8 billion, 1.7 (ñ4.7) percent below the revised April estimate of $885.0 billion. The May figure is 1.1 (ñ 4.9) percent above May 2002. In constant (1996) dollars, the May annual rate was $689.6 billion, 1.8 (ñ4.7) percent below the revised estimate of $702.6 billion for April. DESCRIPTION OF CURRENT REVISIONS In each May report, unadjusted value-in-place estimates are revised to incorporate additional data not previously available. Seasonally adjusted statistics are also revised using newly computed seasonal factors. The revised factors for January 2000-December 2002 were computed using data through April 2003. The revised factors for January-May 2003 were computed using data through May 2003. See Appendix D, Adjustments for Seasonal Variations and Cost Changes.
