Excerpt: ANNUAL DATA BACK TO 1997 AND MONTHLY DATA BACK TO 1998 ARE SHOWN IN THIS REPORT Construction put in place during May 2002 was estimated at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of $852.0 billion, 1(ñ5) percent below the revised April estimate of $858.2 billion. The May figure represents a 1 (ñ 5) percent increase over May 2001. In constant (1996) dollars, the May annual rate was $701.0 billion, 1 (ñ5) percent below the revised estimate of $707.1 billion for April. DESCRIPTION OF CURRENT REVISIONS In each May report, unadjusted value-in-place estimates are revised to incorporate additional data not previously available. Seasonally adjusted statistics are also revised using newly computed seasonal factors. The revised factors for January 1999-December 2001 were computed using data through April 2002. The revised factors for January-May 2002 were computed using data through May 2002. See Appendix D, Adjustments for Seasonal Variations and Cost Changes.
