Excerpt: New construction put in place during May 1996 was estimated at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of $563.4 billion, 1(ñ5) percent below the revised April estimate of $568.3 billion. The May figure represents a 4(ñ5) percent increase over May 1995. In constant (1992) dollars, the May annual rate was $493.5 billion, 1(ñ5) percent below the revised estimate of $498.6 billion for April.
