Complete in Two quarto volumes. c.1905. Dark green cloth, gilt titles, marbled edges and endpapers. 784pp. Lavishly illustrated. Includes the islands lately acquired from Spain and Hawaii and the Philippines. Illustrated with more than twelve hundred special photographs, color types, and new colored maps. N.D. Thompson Publishing Co., St. Louis, New York, Etc., 1899. Green Cloth. Book Condition: Good. No Jacket. No Additional Printings. Elephant Folio - over 15" - 23" tall. Vol. II, p. 385 to p.784; illustrated with hundreds of photographs, including some full-page color photographs (colortypes); ".embracing perfect photographic and descriptive representations of the people and the islands lately acquired from Spain, including Hawaii and the Philippines; also their material resources and productions, homes of the people, their customs and general appearance, with many hundred views of landscapes.(from the title page)." Book condition: Cover corners have considerable wear, all showing board (especially the lower rear corner); on rear cover edges, bottom cloth is completely missing, top edge has half missing; front cover edges are intact; book edges have darkened to a dusty tan color; outer margins throughout (blank area outside print area) are a pale tan color, main page is off-white--except color photos, whose margins are white; inner hinges have been professionally reinforced with nearly matching paper, and book hinges seem quite secure. Contents are in better than average condition, and paper seems strong.
