Lab126, Inc is a subsidiary of Amazon.com, responsible for R&D,[1] and widely known for developing Amazon's Kindle devices.[2][3][4] It is based in Cupertino, California and is led by Gregg Zehr.

The names comes from how 1 and the 26 stand for the first and last letters of the alphabet.

Projects

In addition to the Kindle e-reader, Lab126 is developing other "easy-to-use, highly integrated consumer products to serve Amazon customers".[5]

In 2011, Lab126 developed the Kindle Fire tablet computer and in 2012 developed two new models of the Fire tablet called the Kindle Fire HD.[6]

In 2014, Lab126 developed the Amazon Fire TV set-top device.

In June 2014, the Lab126-developed Fire Phone was announced with cameras to track the user's eyes to give the impression of 3D and it was released in July.[1][7]

In 2015, Lab126 released the Amazon Echo, a voice command device.
